I had upgraded almost everything in Luna's routine. I had just never thought about upgrading her water.

For years, I was thoughtful about what I gave her. Better food. Cleaner treats. A routine built around what actually made sense for her.

But when it came to her water, I never really questioned it. Like most dog owners, I assumed plain water was all she needed.

Then one day on a hike, I reached for my own electrolyte drink while Luna was panting beside me.

And I thought, why am I replenishing with electrolytes after activity, while she's still drinking the same plain water she's always had?

I couldn't stop thinking about it.

So I set out to create something different. I wanted to make a drink for Luna that was refreshing, purposeful, and made just for dogs.

I shared the idea with my sister-in-law, Sharon Fornes, RVT, VTS, and she loved it. Then I took it to Luna's veterinarian, who saw real potential and even suggested ingredients to explore. Working with a pet food scientist, we turned that idea into LapsUp, a coconut water hydration drink made just for dogs to help replenish what panting leaves behind.
