Why I Started LapsUp

OUR STORY

Why I Started LapsUp

Luna panted after every walk. Her water bowl stayed the same.

For years, I upgraded everything for her. Better food. Cleaner treats. A routine built around what actually made sense for her. But her water bowl was still plain water. Like most dog owners, I never really questioned it.

Then one day, it hit me.

I was reaching for my own electrolyte drink on a hike, thinking carefully about what I was putting in my body, while Luna's bowl sat at home unchanged, filled with the same plain water it always had.

A few weeks later, I was walking a pet industry trade show. Every booth was packed with innovation—supplements, functional treats, fresh food. And everywhere I looked, tired dogs were panting beside untouched bowls of plain water.

That's when it clicked.

Plain water wasn't really a choice. It was just the default.

So I started building something different.

I consulted with Dr. Kelly Myers, DVM, a San Diego veterinarian with more than two decades of experience, along with my sister-in-law Sharon Fornes, RVT, VTS. Working alongside a pet food scientist, we brought the idea to life.

Together, we created LapsUp—the coconut water drink made for dogs. Light, refreshing, and designed for everyday moments.

RISE is the morning ritual. The first water bowl of the day, upgraded.

REFRESH is for after walks, park days, and warm afternoons.

Lighter than bone broth. Cleaner than heavy meat-based toppers.

Finally, something worth lapping up.
